The Streaming Giant Selects Perfect Actor for Bentham in the Hit Series Third Season

Baroque Works is set to exert significant influence in Netflix’s upcoming season of One Piece, even if the true confrontation won’t take place until season 3, and a adored, popular member has recently been selected.

The streaming service revealed Tuesday that the talented performer will appear in the One Piece cast for the third season and will embody Bentham. Bon Clay possesses the power to morph into an identical duplicate of anyone they’ve laid a hand on with their right hand. Escola, who is non-binary and goes by they/them, will portray a version of that character reimagined as non-binary, as opposed to as a drag queen, in the live-action show, unlike the initial comic and cartoon version.

The new cast member will work alongside a number of new cast members set to bring the organization to reality, including leader Sir Crocodile, played by Joe Manganiello, a talented actress as another operative, and Sendhil Ramamurthy, who will appear as the cast as the ruler of the desert kingdom.

Even though Bon Clay is a major member of the group, the individual won’t appear until One Piece season 3. With the next season expected to adapt the Little Garden segment, this signals a major departure in the timing of Bon Clay’s introduction, one that could indicate more adjustments to the narrative framework.

Escola’s blend of precise humor and deep sensitivity makes them a ideal selection for the part. Besides their latest vocal work in the youth-focused cartoon movie Boys Go to Jupiter, they garnered significant recognition and numerous honors for penning and acting in the popular theatrical show Oh Mary!, showcasing the versatility they’ll add to one of One Piece’s highly regarded characters.

Netflix's live-action One Piece series is due to premiere for its season two on March 10, 2026.
