The Mighty Nein's Opening Sequence Selected the Wrong Critical Role Track

The Mighty Nein, the newest animated adventure by Critical Role, unveiled an exciting opening credits. It showcases our favorite group of outcasts, outcasts, and rogues kicking ass and taking names, while teasing at several heart-wrenching backstories for characters including Liam O'Brien's mage Caleb, and Travis Willingham's warlock orc, the character Fjord.

Overall, the opening looks stunning. However, I felt that something was lost in the music selection.

This sequence uses "Welcome to the Continent", an exceptional song composed by artist the talented musician. This piece from the soundtrack album of that title, the second one put out by the production company's music division their music brand. It's a wonderful sentimental option, and I believe that fans of the sequel series will appreciate its presence.

But for me, The series' intro doesn't quite capture the excitement and excitement that accompanied the show's actual-play adventure. "It's Your Turn", written by musician Jason Charles Miller, was an instant classic in my view when it was initially unveiled in that year, and it only got better when cast member Sam Riegel wrote words to the melody for the series' animated intro in 2018.

Including singing from one actress, another performer, Travis Willingham, as well as the writer, the track was memorable and fun. At the time, I hadn't seen the second campaign at that point, but it was so infectious that I kept it on my device. It's a song that excites you before you start an installment of fantasy hijinks.

The Mighty Nein's intro with "the new song" fails to hit the right notes for me. It's a grand piece of music, but based on my understanding of the group, I feel that its mood is a little off.

Naturally, Critical Role has already said that the series will have a few surprises and variations from the original live sessions. A tonal change for its intro seems to be among these.

The Mighty Nein will be released on Prime Video from Nov. 19. If you can't wait until then, or want a head start to learn about the characters of Critical Role's Campaign 2, the original episodes are available on the audio platform and YouTube.
