'Everyone's giving me grief' regarding the series finishing prior to my arrival.
Beautiful weather, classic snacks and legendary venues - what more could an supporter of the English team ask for?
Realistically, they'd hope for an Ashes series in Australia where they still have a chance to reclaim the urn following the initial matches.
That will not be happening during this tour, after Australia's crushing victory by 82 runs in Adelaide left the home side with a 3-0 lead for the fourth straight contest on home turf.
England's famous supporters' group, England's supporters' group, have thousands of supporters flying out for the concluding fixtures in New South Wales and Victoria.
There are also tour groups who will be vacationing down under, as well as families and friends planning a special expedition.
Fans with Booked Tickets
A group of four supporters are four such fans.
The group had their travel arrangements and match passes booked for the fourth and fifth Tests "a full year in advance", anticipating a historic English victory.
Sadly, they've observed Australia defeat England convincingly in just 11 days from their family home in Penwortham, Lancashire.
"All my colleagues has been making comments regarding the concluded contest for the last two weeks," commented one sibling.
"Our expectation had been that we would have something to play for still when we got there."
Diminishing Hope
There was plenty of positivity regarding the team's prospects of securing a first win in 15 years for a triumph on Australian soil prior to the first ball.
Yet now they are staring down the barrel of extending their winless run in the country to 19 consecutive Tests when the next match starts in Melbourne on Thursday, 25 December.
Ben Stokes' side - and their fans - will be keen to prevent a clean sweep.
Alex said the "thrill and enjoyment" of head coach Brendon McCullum's 'Bazball' in recent times had "renewed interest in" the longest format for England fans.
Yet the fans said they had minimal hopes for the final two games - and all they are hoping for from the players is "a show of spirit".
"Every pundit points it out, but it all is about mental resilience. 'The aggressive approach has been become a phrase now that is just, like, impractical batting," added Rory.
"During a long match, you should apply yourself. Playing at deliveries 'wide of off stump has never featured in the coaching manuals, and that is mainly the fault the frontline batsmen."
The Remaining Matches
Prompted about he believed England will secure a victory in this contest, came the reply: "The evidence suggests the hosts are a stronger side at the moment."
"There is going to have to be multiple performers that makes a significant contribution and makes a big impact."
Regardless of the result, the group remains anticipating the trip.
"It will be a wonderful trip nonetheless," commented Katie Ryding. "We must adopt that mindset."
"Naturally, it's disappointing we don't have more to play for, but we have made a substantial financial commitment as it is."
"We will make the most of spending the festive season overseas. It is also a new experience for us abroad at this time of year."
An educator, Katie is focused on enjoying the long-haul travel as part of her Christmas holidays.
"As a backup plan, I can play golf to rely on," she finished.
