British tennis star Emma Raducanu ends her season and has decided to continue with trainer for 2026.
Emma Raducanu made it to the third stage in three of the four major tournaments in the current campaign.
The British tennis star Emma Raducanu has pulled out of her final two events of the year as a result of a medical condition she has been fighting over the past 10 days.
The 22-year-old was due to play in events in Asia but chose to travel back to regain her health before starting next year's training.
These plans will involve coach Francisco Roig, as they will keep partnering in 2026.
Raducanu underwent blood pressure monitoring while playing the initial match versus Ann Li in Wuhan and stopped playing when trailing 6-1 4-1 on an oppressively humid day.
She needed once more a doctor's assessment at the recent Ningbo Open, where she fell in a three-set match to local wildcard Zhu Lin in the opening round.
Her movement was noticeably restricted in the final set against Zhu because of the lower back problem that has affected her during parts of the season.
Those results meant an encouraging season, in which she climbed into the top 30 globally after more than three years since her previous ranking, concluded with three straight losses.
Raducanu had three match points before losing to Pegula in the third round in last month's Beijing event.
She secured twenty-eight matches this year and advanced to the semis in the Washington tournament, but her standout performance was at the Miami Open in March.
Ranked first in Britain advanced to the quarters of this WTA 1000 tournament, overcoming Emma Navarro, the eighth seed on the way before losing in three sets to Pegula, ranked fourth.
She was coached by Mark Petchey from the Miami event through Wimbledon, with Francisco Roig stepping in in time for the US Open.
The first plan with the ex-coach of Rafael Nadal was through the season's conclusion but the partnership will continue, with a training session scheduled late this year.
Raducanu told that the trial session with Roig post-Wimbledon was like a "covert operation" as the meeting was kept under wraps.
The player was close to defeating top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka at their initial event as a team in Cincinnati in August.
Roig was also with Raducanu in the New York tournament, where she reached the third round then falling to Elena Rybakina, the 2022 Wimbledon winner.
